Maree Grier is a Clinical Psychologist at Royal Brisbane & Women’s Hospital who has provided psychological services to people affected by cancer for more than 10 years. In addition to clinical work, Maree enjoys her education roles which include guest lectures for postgraduate psychology courses at a number of Queensland universities, facilitating communication skills training for Cancer Care health professionals, and tutoring clinical communication skills modules for the Faculty of Medicine, University of Queensland. Maree has also valued her participation in the recent PoCoG Conquer Fear RCT research, which investigated fear of cancer recurrence interventions. Across Maree’s clinical practice, she meets people with psychological concerns that fall within a wide spectrum, including concerns that can affect cancer-treatment adherence. She strongly believes that patients are best supported by multidisciplinary teams that work together using a shared and accurate understanding of the multi-factorial sources of distress for people with cancer.
