Roderick Walker

Rick is a Consultant Oncologist at the Queensland Children’s Hospital and the Princess Alexandra Hospital in Brisbane, Australia. He specialises in the treatment of adolescents and young adults (AYAs). He completed his medical degree at the University of Queensland before commencing his training in paediatric oncology in Brisbane. He undertook a clinical fellowship in paediatric and AYA oncology in Newcastle-upon-Tyne, UK, working closely with the Teenage Cancer Trust and a further clinical fellowship in Sydney, Australia. He has post graduate qualifications in adolescent health and wellbeing and is a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians. Rick has been a medical lead of the Queensland Youth Cancer Service since 2014, becoming the lead clinician in 2016 and is currently the Medical Director. He is a committee member of Cancer Alliance Queensland and is Chair of the Youth Cancer Subcommittee as well as being a member Queensland Collaborative for Cancer Survivorship Executive Committee. He is interested in all aspects of AYA oncology and has co-authored multiple peer reviewed articles on the epidemiology, clinical trials in, and management of cancer in AYAs.
